Def. del Termcat: Talla de secció quadrada amb 4 facetes trapezoïdals i la taula quadrada a la corona, i 4 facetes quadrangulars i culet a la culata.
Nota: El nom prové del fet que antigament la majoria dels diamants que venien de l'Índia eren tallats amb aquesta forma.
Nota: És un estil de talla antic i es pot obtenir desbastant i polint dos vèrtexs oposats dels cristalls de diamant de forma octaèdrica. Es pot considerar l'inici de la talla brillant i és la forma més primitiva de talla. Es va utilitzar molt durant el segle XVI i fins a començaments del XVII.
